Veneers
Dental veneers are a versatile solution for many different kinds of smile imperfections. Veneers are ultra-thin, wafer-like shells that are bonded to the surfaces of the teeth. They can be constructed from several materials, but we often use porcelain due to its durability and realistic aesthetic.
How do I know if veneers are right for me?
– Cracked or chipped teeth.
– Discolored or stained teeth.
– Hard-to-whiten teeth.
– Minor crookedness.
– Gaps between the teeth.
– Teeth with poor shape or size.
What’s the process?
After a thorough exam of your teeth, gums and supporting bone structure, your dentist will discuss treatment options with you and answer your questions. If the agreed upon treatment is a dental veneer, your Dentist will:
1. Apply a local anesthetic to the affected area of your mouth
2. Remove a small amount of enamel from the front of your tooth to make place for the veneer
3. Use 3-D imaging to design and create your veneer
4. Clean and polish the tooth’s front surface
5. Bond the veneer in place to permanently affix it
6. Expose the veneer to special hand-held light to harden the repaired surface of your tooth
